Circular zaans

There’s a small family of products in our shop that we’d like to give a space in the spotlight. 

It’s our cacao cordial, cacao marmelade and cacao scrub soap family. How are they related? I hear you thinking..

We’ll explain- the cacao cordial is an infusion of roughly ground, roasted cacao beans, fresh ginger and orange rind. 

When the soaking of these ingredients is done and the mixture is strained and we were left with a a big pile of  fresh ingredients we realized we had no use which seemed like a terrible waste. We started experimenting, chopped up remaining oranges, ginger, orange rind and cacao bits that clung to them, added sugar and some extra lemon juice and made a delicious rich marmalade- really nice on hot buttered toast!

The rest of the remaining cacao nibs, with orange peel and ginger we slowly dehydrated and keep to used in our fragrant, all natural scrub soaps. 

This way we don’t ditch anything. Good for the economics of Smells like chocolate and good for mother earth- just the way we like it!
